Shopping list for the cleanse

SHOPPING LIST FOR 3 DAYS

MEAL PLAN

WARM WATER UPON WAKING

  • Mineral salt here

  • 2 lemons or limes

BREAKFAST

KITCHARI LUNCH & DINNER

Option 1: buy the Kitchari Kit + fresh veggies

  • Yoom’s Kitchari Kit (Total of 6 servings for 2 Kitchari meals/day; $84/3 days or $14/meal)

  • 2 limes

  • 6 servings of veggies of choice (e.g. spinach, avocado, carrots)

Option 2: buy all ingredients individually

  • 1.5 cup yellow mung dal (not the same as mung beans or lentils) buy here

  • 1.5 cup white Basmati rice

  • 12 tablespoons ghee buy here

  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida powder buy here

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds buy here

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder buy here

  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds buy here

  • 1.5 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwayn) buy here

  • 3 inch fresh ginger, chopped

  • 3 inch raw turmeric root

  • Mineral salt

  • 2 limes

  • 3 avocados or fresh spinach bundles (or green veggie of choice)

  • 7 fresh carrots

  • 4 bunches fresh spinach

  • Fresh cilantro bundle

SNACKS

  • Blueberries & raspberries

  • Apples or pear to stew (recipe here)

    • 3 apples (whatever variety you like)

    • 3 tablespoon raisins

    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1/4 teaspoon ginger

    • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

    • 1/2 teaspoon ghee

CONSTIPATION REMEDIES (JUST IN CASE)

  • For everyone (except AIR types): Triphala

  • For AIR types: Haritaki (only AIR types)

Diet changes can sometimes constipate. You want to make sure you have a bowel movement daily — that's true always, but especially while cleansing! So prep for eventual constipation by getting one of these mild laxatives.

Tips to know which laxative to get:

  • If you pass rabbit pellet stools, normal-size stool that is hard to pass or have a bowel movement only every 2 days or less = you most likely need to get Haritaki.

  • If you have regular daily bowel movements, tend to have soft/runny stool or slow to pass stool that is tends to be moist = you most likely need to get Triphala.
