Music to balance how you feel

Alexia G. Studio

You can use the 5 senses in your daily routine to bring your body & mind back into balance and affect how you feel. e.g. daily self oil massage (touch), cook including the 6 tastes (taste), drop lavender oil in our bath (smell), use colors to cool or warm up a space (sight).

Sound is no exception ๐ŸŽง The type of music you choose as the background to your life can be a large contributor to why youโ€™re not feeling your most balanced self.

(Take the Mind & Body Type quiz here if you donโ€™t know your Ayurvedic constitution yet)

๐ŸŽป ANXIOUS (AIR)

+ You're feeling ungrounded, anxious, spacey & all over the place

+ Easily bring stability and calm to your overactive mind with a peaceful and mellow music that has a soft and melodic tone. Anything slower pace to counter your quick & fast nature like slow-paced jazz, soul, blues

+ Look for music made with the flute, crystal bowls or deep tones of the cellos and bass

+ Avoid music like hard rock, electric guitar, and techno

๐ŸŽท ANGRY, IRRITABLE (FIRE)

+ You're feeling angry, frustrated, judgmental, impatient and critical

+ Soothe the mind and cool down your mental fire with nature sounds, particularly music with running water or the ocean and music like R&B, slow-paced country or love songs, or any music that simply leaves you feeling good

+ Music with instruments like the saxophone or any type of slow and rhythmic percussion or drums

+ Be mindful of the words of songs and the images & stories that are being invoked. Avoid songs that magnify feelings of irritation and unrest.

๐ŸŽธ SLOW, DULL (EARTH)

+ You're feeling lethargic, depressed, unmotivated, congested and stagnant

+ Pick up your energy with music that has an invigorating, upbeat and energizing effect on the nervous system. Turn off the love songs and turn up dance music, Latin music, rock, rap, or your favorite music that keeps your energy and spirits high.

+ Higher-toned music with drums, chimes, electric guitar, keyboard, and piano is the perfect type of sound.
